Dramaturge sud-africain né en 1932 au Cap, d'un père d'origine irlandaise et catholique et de mère afrikaner. Il est l'auteur de théâtre le plus célèbre de osn pays.

Sans être un auteur militant, il montre en toute simplicité à travers ses personnages (souvent métis) les absurdités et les souffrances engendrées par l'Apartheid.
